REQUIREMENT FOR INSURANCE Scouts Canada requires that everyone has travel insurance. They have no minimum requirement or recommendation. The CMT strongly advises that everyone carry a card (laminated is best) in their pocket that has the phone number and policy number for their insurance provider. Many insurance companies require a phone call prior to being admitted into the hospital. Having this information on your person will help avoid any issues with the claims. In-charge Scouters may have to provide a credit card initially, to provide a short-term deposit to the hospital if your Youth or a Scouter need medical assistance. The insurance company should reimburse this in a timely fashion. You can opt to purchase insurance through any provider. If utilizing a provider outside of Allianz, you will be responsible for contacting your insurance provider in the event of an incident. If the insurance policy does not cover the medical issue, then the parents or injured Scouter will be responsible for charges incurred. The CMT may be able to use the modest emergency fund to help cover a temporary charge where the insurance company is Allianz.
